Visualise coverage of plan objects
Which objectives, initiatives or risks remain orphaned despite an apparently complete plan?
Direct answer
The graph measures coverage of mandatory links and shows how a break propagates to budget, calendar or monitoring.
01Fix first the nodes whose absence exposes several downstream decisions.
02The rule, the evidence and the next review date stay visible.

Detect the breaks that propagate through the plan
An object that is present is not necessarily connected. The graph checks ten mandatory links and weights each break by the number of downstream decisions it exposes.
Fictitious graph of 42 objects: four objectives, eleven initiatives, eight budgets, six roles, seven KPIs and six risks.
- 01Model
Define node types and mandatory links before checking content.
- 02Measure
Calculate coverage, orphans and unqualified links for each family.
- 03Propagate
Count the downstream decisions exposed by each break.
- 04Correct
Treat first the node whose repair restores the most coverage.
Link coverage and reach of breaks
Budget shows medium coverage, but its three breaks expose nine downstream decisions: it becomes the priority.
Coverage = valid links ÷ required links; reach = downstream decisions exposed| Link checked | Valid | Required | Coverage | Reach | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Objective → initiative | 10 | 11 | 91% | 3 | Medium |
| Initiative → budget | 8 | 11 | 73% | 9 | Critical |
| Initiative → role | 9 | 11 | 82% | 5 | High |
| Initiative → milestone | 11 | 11 | 100% | 0 | Stable |
| Objective → KPI | 3 | 4 | 75% | 4 | High |
| Risk → response | 4 | 6 | 67% | 3 | High |
01The priority is not the lowest coverage but the break that exposes the most downstream decisions.
02Connecting three initiatives to their full cost restores nine funding and sequencing decisions.
03The orphaned KPI is corrected next, because it blocks the review of an entire objective.
Fictitious graph. Reach depends on the links defined as mandatory in the plan’s relationship model.
